The project aims to improve and strengthen climate governance in Charagua and increase flows of finance for local communities and carbon-positive value chains through:
Increasing capacity and knowledge of the public- and private-sector and communities in how to reduce deforestation through green financing.
Transparently and equitably including people and government in carbon markets.
Initiating a results-based payment mechanism to prevent forest loss and degradation.
Increasing indigenous access to markets through the expansion of community supported agriculture and productive restoration.
UK PACT (Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions) is a unique capacity-building programme. Jointly governed and funded by the UK Government’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) through the UK's International Climate Finance, it works in partnership with countries with high emissions reduction potential to support them to implement and increase their ambitions for tackling climate change.
