We are delighted to have selected innovative projects to receive up to £3.3m funding allocated through an open, competitive call for proposals following the South Africa launch of UK PACT in July 2020.
These capacity building projects will promote a low-carbon, climate resilient and inclusive future in South Africa. With an estimated start date in January 2021, the selected projects will be receiving grants between £100,000 and £500,000 and will support and work with key government beneficiaries at national, provincial and local levels to build capacity in key priority areas, including:Projects were selected following a rigorous assessment of over 150 applications submitted in response to UK PACT’s first call for proposals in South Africa.
UK PACT (Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions) is a £60m flagship programme under the International Climate Finance (ICF) portfolio. It is part of the UK’s £5.8bn commitment to International Climate Finance by 2021 to tackle climate change. The programme will run from 2018-2022 and is funded by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).
Through its grants, UK PACT aims to improve the capacity and capability of key public, private and civil society institutions to reduce emissions and foster inclusive economic growth in partner countries, including South Africa.
