Development of Mexico GHG emission inventory visualisation platform

    Implementing partner: Centro Mario Molina

  Implementation period: April 2026 - March 2027

   Sector: Nature

The project aims to strengthen Mexico’s climate governance by developing a unified National GHG Transparency Platform that integrates inventories, projections, and NDC-gap analysis. The system will improve data quality, accessibility, and institutional capacity at national and subnational levels, enabling evidence-based decision-making and greater transparency. A pilot implementation in selected states will validate the platform and support a national roadmap for scale-up.

Expected outputs:

  • Development and piloting of a modular national GHG transparency platform that integrates inventory compilation, emissions projections and NDC gap analysis.
  • Establishment of a harmonised national and subnational data architecture and methodological package to enable consistent, transparent and comparable GHG inventory and projections.
  • Formalisation of a governance and QA/QC framework to institutionalise roles, protocols and long-term stewardship of the transparency system.
  • Capacity building for federal and state stakeholders to independently operate, maintain and apply the platform, supported by accessible training materials and a train‑the‑trainer approach.
  • Implementation of state-level pilots and development of a national scale-up roadmap to validate the system, capture lessons learned and guide continuous improvement and replication.
