Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) Resources

Embedding GEDSI throughout UK PACT is vital for achieving equitable outcomes and ensuring our work has a lasting positive impact. It is widely accepted that the effects of climate change and high emissions are not felt equally and that mainstreaming GEDSI within climate action increases the likelihood that climate change interventions will achieve maximum impact and reach, and avoid causing harm.

On this page you can find resources to help you understand the entry points for GEDSI in your work, find practical guidance on how to approach GEDSI mainstreaming, and read inspiring case studies from other UK PACT projects.

Our ambition is for UK PACT to go beyond minimum compliance, aiming to be empowering when it comes to GEDSI, and where possible supporting transformational change. UK PACT commits to opposing all forms of discrimination.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FAQs

What is GEDSI and why is it important to the delivery of UK projects?

GEDSI is the acronym for Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion. UK PACT has a legal requirement to comply with the UK’s Gender Equality Act (GEA) 2014 and is committed to mainstreaming GEDSI considerations throughout its programming. UK PACT recognises GEDSI is a fundamental concern and commits to being a GEDSI responsive programme. UK PACT opposes all forms of discrimination and strives to be an anti-racist programme. This means we will work to increase equality of opportunity for marginalised groups through our programming and aim to reduce racial and other inequalities, ensuring our GEDSI approaches are contextualised for the countries we operate in.

How can my project incorporate GEDSI principles?

UK PACT has developed two main resources to help our partners understand the GEDSI principles and guide project strategies - our GEDSI Ambition and our GEDSI Guide. You are also welcome to discuss your GEDSI strategy ideas with your point of contact at UK PACT, who may consult our GEDSI experts.
