UK PACT is partnering with India to accelerate low-carbon development through power sector reform, agroforestry, urban planning and mobility.
India is committed to achieving Net-Zero emissions by 2070 and has made ambitious targets for addressing climate change. Under its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), India has pledged to cut the emissions intensity of its GDP by 45% by 2030. It also aims to achieve its installed electric power capacity from non-fossil fuel sources to up to 50% by 2030. In the same period, India hopes to expand its forest and tree cover to absorb an additional 2.5 to 3 tonnes of CO2 equivalent.
The India-UK PACT Country Fund enables the UK and India to collaborate on driving a clean energy transition through policy, regulatory, and market reforms. It supports cities in implementing climate-positive urban planning and mobility solutions and also advances the UK-India Forest Partnership by providing technical assistance for sustainable agroforestry.
