# Operationalising energy performance certificates (EPCs) in South Africa

**Led by: Carbon Trust**
---

**Sector:  Energy **
---

This initiative will help develop a National Building Energy Performance Register (NBEPR) to support South Africa’s new mandatory energy performance certificate regulations to drive energy efficiency in buildings.

***“The Energy Performance Certificate legislation is the first step in understanding the energy use of the existing building stock in South Africa. This project heralds that first step towards a lower carbon future for cities and towns.” ***
