Sector: Energy |
Duration: 2022 - 2024 |
Project background:
This project has established a multi-year energy efficiency partnership among local, regional, and state stakeholders to accelerate energy efficiency. It aims to strengthen the capabilities of stakeholders related to energy saving insurance (ESI) and to catalyse development of future energy efficiency projects in Indonesia by providing multi-stakeholder engagement platform or Seetrum.id (Society of Energy Efficiency Trust Movement).
Project summary:
To strengthen capacity within the sector, 27 energy auditors were trained, with 13 obtaining official certification through targeted training programmes. The project also facilitated three focused group discussions (FGDs), engaging over 230 participants in dialogue on energy efficiency and the ESI initiative, helping to build broader stakeholder support and foster alignment with national energy goals.
Project outcomes:
This project resulted in feasibility study on the implementation of the Energy Saving Insurance (ESI) model in Indonesia. The study was shared with key stakeholders, including the Financial Services Authority (OJK), the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR), and insurance providers. Key outputs included desk research, an interim report, and a practical playbook to support the development of the ESI model within the national regulatory and financial framework.
Another achievement was the launch of the SEETRUM platform—an online hub for energy efficiency practitioners in Indonesia—which now has over 1,200 registered members. The platform provides a central space for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and engagement among stakeholders in the energy efficiency sector. Awareness of SEETRUM and related initiatives was further amplified through a series of press releases and public outreach efforts.
UK PACT (Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions) is a unique capacity-building programme. Jointly governed and funded by the UK Government’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) through the UK's International Climate Finance, it works in partnership with countries with high emissions reduction potential to support them to implement and increase their ambitions for tackling climate change.
