“Smallholder farmers are extremely vulnerable to climate change. Our project implements behaviour change approaches to accelerate the transition to more sustainable agricultural practices to improve productivity and resilience while decreasing farm-related emissions.”
- Brett Jenks, President and CEO, Rare
The project is working to equip and empower smallholder farmers, agricultural extension agents, and local leaders with the information, skills, training, and tools they need to shift to more regenerative agriculture and sustainable ranching practices. The project is generating evidence and the social demonstration required to improve farmers’ commitment to climate-smart agriculture. It is also helping smallholder farmers who consistently adopt regenerative and low-carbon agricultural practices, to access the voluntary carbon credit market- leading to enhanced and sustained action on climate change.
UK PACT (Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions) is a unique capacity-building programme. Jointly governed and funded by the UK Government’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) through the UK's International Climate Finance, it works in partnership with countries with high emissions reduction potential to support them to implement and increase their ambitions for tackling climate change.
