Strengthening integral forest fire management and governance in Santa Cruz to facilitate registration in ART/TRESS to reduce forest emissions

The project aims to strengthen Integrated Fire Management (IFM) in the department of Santa Cruz in Bolivia, to facilitate the registration of Emission Reduction Units under the TREES standard of the Architecture for REDD+ Transactions (ART).

To achieve this, efforts are underway to strengthen forest fire governance and management at the departmental, municipal, and communal levels.

Main counteparts of this project include:

  • Forest Directorate (Ministry of Environment) 
  • Indigenous Communities   

Expected results

  • Integral Fire Management policies developed and deployed at the municipal level, Forest-related emissions estimated, increased response capacity to forest fires at the institutional and community levels.
