Making Indonesia climate action deliver through environmental democracy

Project background:

The project is supporting the strengthening the House of Representative or Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat (DPR)'s roles in enhancing Indonesia's success in achieving its climate change commitments by:  

  • Promoting evidence-based, inclusive climate legislation and accelerating the passage of Climate Bill into Law 
  • Conducting robust oversight of the green growth agenda and the delivery of Indonesia’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) 

Project summary:

The project activities include a consolidation meeting between the RIA and CBA teams focused on carbon pricing and carbon trading, emphasising the urgency of advancing the Climate Bill within parliament. The project is expected to help ensure the DPR drives accountability and legislative progress on climate and environmental issues, while supporting Indonesia in taking concrete steps towards achieving its international climate targets. 

 

Project outcomes:

This ongoing project aims to strengthen the DPR's role in supporting the country’s climate commitments by promoting inclusive, evidence-based climate legislation and enhancing oversight of the green growth agenda and the implementation of Indonesia’s NDC.
