Call for Proposals open: Nature-based Solutions in Kenya

27 Aug 2025

We are pleased to announce that today the UK PACT (Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions) programme has launched a new funding opportunity for Nature-based Solutions projects in Kenya.

Kenya-UK PACT is inviting eligible organisations to submit proposals for innovative, capacity-building projects that support Kenya’s just transition ambitions. The deadline for applications is 26 September 2025, 17.00 (EAT)/ 15:00 (GMT+1).

UK PACT is a key part of the UK’s technical assistance under the UK–Kenya Strategic Partnership (2025–2030), which outlines joint priorities across four pillars: trade, investment and green growth; climate and nature; science and technology; and security and stability. Under the climate and nature pillar, Kenya and the UK are committed to demonstrating global leadership on climate, nature, and energy - mobilising finance for adaptation, resilience, and mitigation, and supporting biodiversity conservation. UK PACT contributes to this goal by advancing Kenya’s transition to a low-carbon, climate-resilient economy through clean energy scale-up, strengthened climate systems, green finance mobilisation, and nature-based solutions.

What are we looking for?

The Kenya–UK PACT Country Fund is inviting applications for high-impact, demand-informed projects in the Nature-based Solutions (NbS) sector. This Call for Proposals aligns with Kenya’s national climate priorities and builds on extensive consultation with government counterparts.

We are seeking innovative, inclusive, and technically sound proposals that support:

  • Commercial forestry: Strengthening sustainable commercial forestry across public, private, and community land to enhance carbon sequestration, promote responsible land use, and create green economic opportunities.
  • Agroforestry: Scaling up smallholder agroforestry and nature-based enterprises to restore degraded landscapes, improve livelihoods, and expand value chains.

Who can apply?

We invite applications from organisations with relevant experience in delivering technical assistance and capacity-building projects in nature-based solutions, including areas such as climate policy, governance, sustainable land use, and ecosystem restoration. This includes think tanks, consultancies, academic institutions, community organisations, NGOs, professional associations, and other similar entities with the expertise required to implement eligible projects.

Government agencies, government departments, and state-owned enterprises are not eligible to receive UK PACT funding, either as lead applicants or consortium partners.

In line with UK PACT’s commitment to localisation and inclusive delivery, additional consideration will be given to consortia that include local organisations, women-owned entities, youth-owned entities, and entities owned by persons with disabilities.
