Call for proposals open: Just Rural Transition sector in Colombia

12 Jan 2024

We are pleased to announce that the UK Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions (UK PACT) programme has launched a new funding opportunity in Colombia in the Just Rural Transition sector.

Colombia-UK PACT is inviting eligible organisations to submit proposals for innovative, capacity-building projects that contribute to Colombia’s Just Rural Transition. We are seeking to fund projects that can contribute to the sustainable development of the agricultural and bioeconomy sectors toward a sustainable and resilient system of practices, providing increased prosperity for rural communities, whilst reducing and reversing deforestation, land degradation and greenhouse emissions.

Grants for projects lasting between 12 to 33 months and up to GBP 500,000 per financial year are available. The deadline for applications is 16 February 2024, 18:00 COT/ 23:00 UTC.

What are we looking for?

Following consultation with key government stakeholders, the focus will be on four areas of intervention:

Area of intervention 1: Consolidate best agroecology and agroforestry practices for productive land reconversion and restoration with a sustainable market approach.

Area of intervention 2: Develop effective traceability systems for no deforestation and land degradation in existing value chains under zero-deforestation agreements and non-timber forest products.

Area of intervention 3: Enable more applied research and bioeconomy products development for sustainable production, use, commercialisation, and conservation of biological resources.

Area of intervention 4: Improve the design and implementation of financial instruments for rural nature-based solutions, involving local communities.

Who can apply?

Organisations that are registered as not-for-profit are eligible to be lead Implementing Partners of a proposal or consortia. For-profit-organisations can participate in the call for proposals as partners within a consortium. We welcome applications from consortia of organisations with the capacity to deliver technical assistance projects in the intervention areas, and we request the participation of at least one local partner within the consortia. Government agencies and/or departments are not eligible to apply either as a lead organisation, or as a partner organisation within consortium.
